Full Job Description:

The Seoul Institute of the Arts, a top arts conservatory in Korea, is seeking applications for a Visiting Professor position- a one-year term appointment in the Acting program, beginning in March or August 2026.

Responsibilities:

Teaching Responsibilities include all levels of Movement and Physical Training for actors.
The ideal candidate will bring broad industry experience, professional connections, and a passion for skillful teaching, who will work closely with colleagues to ensure the Acting program offers comprehensive training in areas such as actors’ movement, stage combat, circus acts, percussive body expressions, and other forms of physical exploration.
The selected candidate is expected to teach courses including but not limited to Physical Training for Actors I~V. In addition, they will contribute to deparmental service and help strengthen the program’s ties to international collaboration and the development of a visual archive of actors’ physical work.
Required expertise in two or more of the following areas is required: physical theater, mask work, stage combat, clowning, mime, circus acts, musical theater choreography, and viewpoints training.

Required Qualifications:

•A record of distinguished professional experience at a regional or national level
•A minimum of 3 years of college level teaching in the aforementioned disciplines
•A demonstrated passion for undergraduate theater training and the ability to provide exceptional instruction
•An MFA in Acting, or a related field (Extensive professional and/or teaching experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree)
•Proven ability to thrive in an intensive, collaborative conservatory environment

Desired Qualifications:

• Professional experience on both on stage and screen
• Prior experience in higher education preferred

Submit research outputs within the past four years (from March 1, 2021, to the present), including up to 400% of the representative research outputs that the applicant wishes to submit for evaluation, along with supporting documentation.

The evaluation will follow the “Faculty Research Evaluation Guidelines” of our institution. The amount of Research Accomplishments should meet 400% according the Guidelines.

Foreign interview applicants must submit apostilles (or notarisation by the Korean consul in their country of residence, or by their embassy/consulate in Korea) for all certificates submitted for the preliminary major review by Friday, December 4.
(The cost of apostille issuance is the applicant’s responsibility. A fixed interview allowance will be provided in KRW.)

Only documents notarized by Apostille or diplomatic offices will be accepted. If the certificate is issued in English and you have no criminal record, Apostille is not required.
