The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is seeking applications for tenure-track faculty positions.

QUALIFICATION

  • Applicants should demonstrate outstanding potential in conducting research and teaching at KAIST.
  • Applicants should demonstrate attributes in collaborative and pioneering academic research and contribute to industrial research.
  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. level degree.
  • Applicants are expected to teach all the courses in English.
    * KAIST highly encourages applications from women, minorities, and international candidates.

  • From October 14 to October 31, 2026
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their application is submitted in full before 18:00 (KST, UTC+09:00) of the last day of the submission period as submissions will close at this time.

  • Application (use the prescribed form)
  • A Form for ‘Application for a Full-Time Faculty Position’- including a summary of key achievements, and a teaching and research plan.
  • Consent to Collection-Use of Personal Information (Please use the prescribed form)
  • Academic/research achievements- including a publication list, research accomplishments, educational experience, awards etc.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Do not include personal details such as the name of date of birth (age) and photos.
  • Five representative publications
  • Letter of Recommendation (Only those who pass the first document screening will be notified individually, and the recommendation letter must be sent directly to mehead@kaist.ac.kr)
    • Candidates applying for either Assistant Professor for a tenure track or Associate Professor for a tenure track are required to submit three letters of recommendation.
    • Candidates applying for either Associate Professor with tenure of Full professor are required to submit six letters of recommendation.

※ Please note we will request recommendation letters separately to only those candidates who are successful in the application review process.
